On April 3rd, 2012: Federal agents, senselessly tightening their chains on the war against our harmless plant, raided and seized files and information from the country’s first college for cannabis cultivation, Oaksterdam Universtity. (story here)
The college is located in Oakland, California, and is ran by Richard Lee, a leader in the fight for cannabis legalization. Under California Proposition 215, passed on November 5, 1996, This state law removed criminal penalties for medical patients who, with proper documentation from a doctor, could receive, possess, and grow/cultivate cannabis.
Although Proposition 215 may have some restrictions regarding the amount of cannabis and number of plants, the principle is this: An organic plant used as medicine is a human right, and that proposition was initiated to respect that serious fact.
A promise was made by president Obama in 2008 that stated he would not prosecute medical marijuana patients if they adhered to state laws. Well, he lied.
With children sick and hungry from families with lack of resources, men and women losing their jobs and homes, wars taking place, soldiers dying, and individuals dying of illicit drug overdoses, why does the man in charge of our country feel the need to ruin the lives of innocent medical marijuana patients and connoisseurs?
Evil, contradictive to the constitution, and corrupt.
The craziest thing is that shortly after this raid made headlines, it was announced that a British drug company, GW Pharmaceutical, was hoping to receive Federal approval for it’s marijuana-based spray, Sativex, as a replacement for medical marijuana.
