Virginia Tech kicker Cody Journell, who earlier in the game missed a 38-yard attempt wide left, redeemed himself with two pressure kicks; one to send the game into overtime as time expired and the other to win the game in the first overtime game ever played in Lane Stadium.
The No. 16 ranked Hokies narrowly avoided the upset, beating ACC Coastal Division rival Georgia Tech 20-17.
