Greenland’s “Ice Quakes” may set a world record.
I find it absolutely amazing that the collapse of the Greenland ice sheet is causing earthquakes. The quakes are cause by the calving of icebergs as they split off from the ice sheet and float out to sea, and are detectable by a worldwide network of seismometers. That is both awesome and terrifying all at the same time.
It would be interesting to see if there was a correlation between an increase in the activity of the world’s largest military having an effect on the polar ice caps.
It takes a great deal of energy to transport goods and troops not to mention the manufacturing aspect involved.
Far fetched but not unrealistic.
